Toasties, Treats, and Tails

Floyd has been the greatest joy and addition to our family. He has such a kind and gentle nature and each time he greets you he has a toy in his mouth (a common trait for golden retrievers when they are happy which, for Floyd, is pretty much all of the time). As I am self-employed and work both from home and out of my office, Floyd has been my shadow since day one and is always by my side.
As with most or all golden retrievers, Floyd is a real ‘foodie’ and since our move to Mornington, Victoria recently he has discovered cheese toasties at a gorgeous little café on Mills Beach – Millie’s Beach Kiosk. Each weekend my husband (and sometimes myself) head down to Mills Beach to take Floyd for his walk and as soon as Floyd is let off his leash, he runs straight towards Millie’s Beach Kiosk and barks at the girls behind the counter asking for his cheese toastie. He is well known down at the beach now, and the girls know that Floyd’s cheese toastie needs to be cut into 4 little triangles for him to eat.
Once Floyd has finished his toastie and gone for his first swim of the morning, he heads to Bistro One, anther café down the road, so that my husband can get his coffee and Floyd gets his second treat for the day, a doggie biscuit. Floyd sits patiently outside of the café until one of the wonderful staff bring him his biscuit.
These weekend walks can last up to two hours, so once Floyd gets back, he pretty much spends the next three hours snuggled up in his doggie bed for a well-deserved nap.
He may be a golden retriever, but Floyd has weekends down to an art: eat well, swim, nap! He’s living life better than most humans!
